I have tried these two tools to do a P2V but have been unsuccessful:<\/p>\n<p>1. Citrix&#8217;s Xenconverter and <br \/>2. VMware&#8217;s vCenter Converter<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Then someone from our datacenter pointed me to a nice little tool called <a href=\"http:\/\/bizconline.com\/en\/download_view.asp?id=23\" target=\"_blank\">p2vlite<\/a>. I ran this tool on the physical server which had the GPT disks and created VHD files on an external USB drive.<\/p>\n<p>Then I imported the VHDs into Xencenter. Upon booting the VM it constantly kept rebooting [asking for a reboot].<\/p>\n<p>I booted from the Server 2008 installation DVD ISO image and chose the \u201cRepair your computer\u201d option &gt;&gt; Next&gt;&gt; then chose \u201ccommand prompt\u201d, then ran&nbsp; \u201cx:\\sources\\recovery\\StartRep.exe\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That ran and fixed all issues and the VM worked fine after that. Yahoo!<\/p>\n<p>Upon first logon I see the VM detects new hardware:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rajdude.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/p2v1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"p2v1\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"p2v1\" src=\"http:\/\/rajdude.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/p2v1_thumb.jpg\" width=\"244\" height=\"151\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After that I upgraded the Hyper-V integration services. and boom\u2026done! <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile\" style=\"border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none\" alt=\"Smile\" src=\"http:\/\/rajdude.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wlEmoticon-smile1.png\"><\/p>\n<p>I see a comment below saying that it did not work until he did some other stuff\u2026.I again tried P2Ving 2 more VMs with GPT disks today\u2026I used the same procedure as above and it again worked fine.
