{"id":522,"date":"2013-05-20T09:34:57","date_gmt":"2013-05-20T13:34:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rajdude.com\/blog\/?p=522"},"modified":"2017-01-31T17:35:58","modified_gmt":"2017-01-31T22:35:58","slug":"accounts-for-managing-hosts-in-scvmm-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rajdude.com\/blog\/accounts-for-managing-hosts-in-scvmm-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"Accounts for managing hosts in SCVMM 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just learnt (the hard way) the correct way to add Hyper-V hosts to SCVMM.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2026<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>should not use the service account used to run SCVMM admin service.<\/li>\n<li>should not use your own domain admin or admin level credentials.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Instead you should\u2026<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create a VMM host management account in AD.<\/li>\n<li>Add that AD account to the local admin group on all your Hyper-V hosts.<\/li>\n<li>Add that AD account to your VMM as a \u201cRun As Account\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Then while adding a new host to VMM, specify that run as account as the account to be used to add that hyper- host.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Until I did it this way, I was having trouble in VMM. The VMM would lose connectivity to some of the Hyper-V hosts. I was getting this error in VMM:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Error (20552)<br \/>\nVMM does not have appropriate permissions to access the resource\u00a0 on the hyperv4p.xxx.xxx server.<br \/>\nRecommended Action<br \/>\nEnsure that Virtual Machine Manager has the appropriate rights to perform this action.<\/p>\n<p>Also, verify that CredSSP authentication is currently enabled on the service configuration of the target computer inp2420hyperv4p.nps.doi.net.
